The Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic (GSSMC), in conjunction with Medical Imaging Consulatants (MIC), is able to provide patients with on-site x-ray services, thereby permitting review of the x-ray by the consulting physician at the time of the patient's initial assessment. Injury through sport and recreational activity typically impacts the skeletal system making the need for current x-ray testing an integral component of a sport medicine physician's assessment of a patient's condition.
An x-ray is an electronically produced form of ionizing radiation that upon passing through the body produces an image on film that can be developed, viewed, and stored forming a permanent record. An x-ray is not able to assist in the diagnosis of all conditions, Should other diagnostic imaging be required, these services will be coordinated by the consulting physician.
Jan Dubeta joined the GSSMC as it's Radiology Technician at the time of opening in 1988. She continues to be recognized as having superior abilities in her x-ray imaging skills by the physicians at the Clinic. Jan is a member of the Canadian Association of Radiological Technologists.
